The Perfect Proposal

***Ok, as most of you know.. I am a writer and this idea came to me as I was contemplating an idea for one of my characters. Needless to say that I have dubbed this idea as the "perfect proposal". And forewarning you, it is written a little weird... hey... it's how I brainstorm ;)*** (this is written from the guy's point of view)

My hands are shaking as I appear at your door. You look ravishing in your sweet summer dress. I smile when I see you and kiss your soft hand which smells of strawberries. I lead you to my BMW motorcycle and hand you a helmet. You grab a hold of my waist as I speed off. 15 minutes into the ride, I pull down a dark alley and in front of an old warehouse. You look confused and all I can do is smile. I blind fold you and lead you into the warehouse.
You smell the sweet scent of forget me nots and feel the warmth of candles.
In the background all you hear is silence. I lead you to the center of the room and remove your blindfold. I whisper in your ear that there is something hidden for you amongst one of the flowers.
As you look around. You turn to me. Is that a tear I see? I kneel down upon one knee.

What you see:
the piano which sits in the middle of the room. I have learned Ludovico's Love is a Mystery for you

the candles that light the room

forget me nots. a symbol for eternal love

that which is hidden amongst the flowers. Will you marry me?

A Thought

Last night, I was telling my friend Samantha (Sammy) about how sad I was that she is leaving us for Utah.
One of the things she mentioned was that she wants to go where the men are.

Ok, so not that we live life hoping to snag ourselves a guy... but realistically, girls want to get married, have a family and move on to the next stage of life. I, for one, would like to stay in Klamath to finish school and that will take me 2 more years. So does this mean I have to be single for 2 more years?

What can I say, I have a thing for cute Mormon boys and that's what I want... a Mormon. i want to be sealed... not just married.
So, i guess you could say I won't settle for less than what I want, which then means that my options here are VERY limited.

Every month, Klamath Stake meets up with 3 other stakes. My question is why? Is this supposed to help us search for a mate or just more people to hang out with? It worked for ONE couple, but everyone else is just too ... whatever.

If a guy asks out a girl in Klamath Falls, she will more than likely respond with a yes. It's not that we are desperate, we just want to go out. And .. well... have you ever seen a shirt on the hanger at the store and thought "hmmm I don't know if I'm gonna like this ... " but then you try it on and it becomes your favorite? What if that same idea is applied to dating. You don't know unless you try it on.

My best friend told me of someone's idea.. you see, every first sunday of the month we have this thing called Fast Sunday... it's a day to fast and pray.... so the idea was to have the girls fast for guys.

It's not a bad idea... maybe that's what we need to do...

Letter to Future Husband

** So forever ago, we had a Home, Family and Personal Enrichment. Part of what we did was create a letter to our future husband. So here it is.**

There is a saying that goes "Don't marry someone you can live with, marry someone you can't live without."
I don't know what I want in a man, I just want him to hold the Priesthood, love me as I love him. I know he will not pressure me to do things that I do not want to do. And yet I know I will do my part as a wife.

Husband of mine, I will support thee as the rib cage supports the body, but remember always that I will never be under thee, or above thee. I will stand beside thee.

I know that I am stubborn and rude and I may not like to talk at time about my feelings. But love my imperfections the way way I love yours.

Do not worry about the past behind you, no matter what a man's past may have been, his future is spotless; please never forget that.

There will be time of trial, but let us keep on that straight and narrow path and not let it be our downfall. I want to hold on to that iron rod and I want you right beside me in body and spirit.

Remember always that my body is my Temple. Love me; respect me for I am fragile. In hurting me, you are hurting our Heavenly Father. What you do to me you do to Him. In crushing me, you only damage your own heart and the heart of our Heavenly Father.

In humility, I will show you the power of emotion. In gentle quietness I will show you strength. In love I will show you that I am the rib that protects your inner self. Know always that the rib cage will allow itself to be broken before it will allow damage to the heart.

Listen, I quoted a lot of this from poem and I mean every word of it. At times it will seem as if I have failed. But failure means never to have tried.

Richard G Scott once said: "Let's think of the long view of life, not just what's going to happen today or tomorrow. Don't give up what you want most in life for something you think you want now."

19 Again

**this was originally posted back in February of 2009**

Have you ever wanted to be 19 again? Just a chance to start over? Yet have all the knowledge you currently have now?

What if you were given that chance? And you never realized it until a friend (who happens to be that age) mentions something that triggers a thought.

Let's face it. I am 28. But just the other day I was told that I could pass for a 22, 21 or even a 19 year old.

I don't feel 28. I feel like I am 19.

Most people tend to think that we are on a timeline:
- it's best to get get married by this age
- best to be graduated from college by this age
- best to have children by this age

... or whatever.

We may deny it, but let's face it. We rule our lives on a timeline!

I thought... wow! I am 28 and have only had 3 boyfriends EVER! I am running out of time. I want to be married before I am 30.

Well you know what I still do. but instead of having 2 years left. I now have 11 years left.

Because I want to get married before I feel like I am 30.

Granted there are things that may make me feel older than my peers:
- I remember the Atari (and playing with it, even though I was young)
- I watched the original He-Man and She-Ra cartoons (haha)
- I remember being able to fill up my tank for $10.00

...whatever.

But my point is... If I look like I am 19 and I feel like I am 19. Then I am 19.

Or perhaps 19 is pushing it... perhaps I will be 21. Not that it really matters. I don't drink or anything.

If someone asks me how old I am, I may just answer with "I am 20" (it's inbetween 19 and 21)

Why must we live up to the numerical standards of everyone else?

He's Just Not That Into You

So, as I previously said, I saw this movie over the weekend. And there are a lot of things in here that people can relate to.

Most girls can probably relate mostly to Ginnifer Goodwin's character, where it seems like the guys is into you, but then he never calls and completely blows you off because he;s just not that into you.

However, I can't seem to ever get to that point.

I think I relate more with the guy that is played by Justin Long. In the sense that he can see others relationships. He knows when a guy is into someone or a girl for that matter.

But he can't sense anything of his own. He knows all the rules, but he's just too focused on everything else that sometimes he just doesn't give life or love a chance even if it means risking rejection.

However when I give it a chance, like the girl... all I get is rejection.

Sometimes it would be nice to have a guy come to the girl, but it never seems like a mutual thing. Meaning the guys that come to you are always the ones you are not interested in. Go-figure right?

Sometimes I wonder if giving yourself a new look is the way to do it. Not in the sense that you are trying to make guys heads turn, but in the sense that you yourself are feeling better about the way you are. You are given a new look and a positive outlook on life. That maybe things can change and life doesn't always have to seem like a re-run of the same old routine that you follow.

Does that make sense?

Of All The Creations...

"Of all the creations of the Almighty, there is none more beautiful, none more inspiring than a lovely daughter of God who walks in virtue with an understanding of why she should do so, who honors and respects her body as a thing sacred and divine, who cultivates her mind and constantly enlarges the horizon of her understanding, who nurtures her spirit with everlasting truth."

-President Gordon B. Hinkley
