Letter to Future Husband

** So forever ago, we had a Home, Family and Personal Enrichment. Part of what we did was create a letter to our future husband. So here it is.**

There is a saying that goes "Don't marry someone you can live with, marry someone you can't live without."
I don't know what I want in a man, I just want him to hold the Priesthood, love me as I love him. I know he will not pressure me to do things that I do not want to do. And yet I know I will do my part as a wife.

Husband of mine, I will support thee as the rib cage supports the body, but remember always that I will never be under thee, or above thee. I will stand beside thee.

I know that I am stubborn and rude and I may not like to talk at time about my feelings. But love my imperfections the way way I love yours.

Do not worry about the past behind you, no matter what a man's past may have been, his future is spotless; please never forget that.

There will be time of trial, but let us keep on that straight and narrow path and not let it be our downfall. I want to hold on to that iron rod and I want you right beside me in body and spirit.

Remember always that my body is my Temple. Love me; respect me for I am fragile. In hurting me, you are hurting our Heavenly Father. What you do to me you do to Him. In crushing me, you only damage your own heart and the heart of our Heavenly Father.

In humility, I will show you the power of emotion. In gentle quietness I will show you strength. In love I will show you that I am the rib that protects your inner self. Know always that the rib cage will allow itself to be broken before it will allow damage to the heart.

Listen, I quoted a lot of this from poem and I mean every word of it. At times it will seem as if I have failed. But failure means never to have tried.

Richard G Scott once said: "Let's think of the long view of life, not just what's going to happen today or tomorrow. Don't give up what you want most in life for something you think you want now."

19 Again

**this was originally posted back in February of 2009**

Have you ever wanted to be 19 again? Just a chance to start over? Yet have all the knowledge you currently have now?

What if you were given that chance? And you never realized it until a friend (who happens to be that age) mentions something that triggers a thought.

Let's face it. I am 28. But just the other day I was told that I could pass for a 22, 21 or even a 19 year old.

I don't feel 28. I feel like I am 19.

Most people tend to think that we are on a timeline:
- it's best to get get married by this age
- best to be graduated from college by this age
- best to have children by this age

... or whatever.

We may deny it, but let's face it. We rule our lives on a timeline!

I thought... wow! I am 28 and have only had 3 boyfriends EVER! I am running out of time. I want to be married before I am 30.

Well you know what I still do. but instead of having 2 years left. I now have 11 years left.

Because I want to get married before I feel like I am 30.

Granted there are things that may make me feel older than my peers:
- I remember the Atari (and playing with it, even though I was young)
- I watched the original He-Man and She-Ra cartoons (haha)
- I remember being able to fill up my tank for $10.00

...whatever.

But my point is... If I look like I am 19 and I feel like I am 19. Then I am 19.

Or perhaps 19 is pushing it... perhaps I will be 21. Not that it really matters. I don't drink or anything.

If someone asks me how old I am, I may just answer with "I am 20" (it's inbetween 19 and 21)

Why must we live up to the numerical standards of everyone else?
